In part two, Joanne interviews the originator of the Polyvagal Theory and inventor of the Safe and Sound Protocol - Dr Stephen Porges. Link to Dr Porges website to learn about the Polyvagal Theory and related research.
In this episode, Dr Porges discusses trauma and how the Safe and Sound Protocol can be blended with other therapies to support state stabilization and regulation. He discusses the need to look beyond the confines of "medical" diagnoses to challenges within the Integrated Social Engagement System. He discusses the universality of the SSP and how it will be used in the future, including with various animals. He discusses his own research and new discoveries based upon the Polyvagal theory.
