People with slow and irregular heart rhythms have a variety of available treatments, but new options may be on the horizon. Dilip Mathew, MD, a cardiac electrophysiologist discusses these treatments, and an ongoing clinical research trial at Sarasota Memorial. SMH is participating in an international clinical trial of the world’s first dual-chamber, wireless pacemaker for people with slow and irregular heart rhythms. The Aveir Dr i2i Study is sponsored by Abbott, and Dr. Mathew is the principal investigator at SMH. The Aveir i2i leadless pacemaker is not commercially available. For more information about Aveir’s leadless pacemaker study or other clinical trials, contact the Sarasota Memorial Research Institute at (941) 917-2225.
