PROBLEM:

  • So we’re talking about work life balance. Why do we take work home with us bro, let all the stress creep into the part of the day when we’re supposed to recharge? Let’s start by reading a little excerpt from the CDC about work Stress
  • Short-lived or infrequent episodes of stress pose little risk. But when stressful situations go unresolved, the body is kept in a constant state of activation, which increases the rate of wear and tear to biological systems. Ultimately, fatigue or damage results, and the ability of the body to repair and defend itself can become seriously compromised. As a result, the risk of injury or disease escalates. (Link)

  • Harvard Business Review Study : 200 interviews with 78 business professionals in stressful highly demanding jobs.
  • “30% of the men and 50% of women in our sample appeared to consciously resist working long hours, describing a variety of strategies they developed for maintaining a healthier work-life balance. While the details of every individual case differed, our study suggested a common mental process that consistently helped this group of professionals to change the way they worked — and lived — for the better.”
