EP 126: How High Achieving Women Can Balance Discipline and Self-Compassion
Manage episode 431571097 series 2996098
As high-achievers, we’re no strangers to discipline. But did you know that discipline without self-compassion just puts you in survival mode? So today, we’re diving into the question: how can we find the balance between discipline and self-compassion?
First, I want to reframe “falling off track.” So often, people look at falling off track as failure. But falling off track is part of the process of falling on track. If no one ever fell off track, we would all be perfect people. And that’s just not the world we live in. We’re living a life of experimentation and we must allow ourselves the experience of falling off track.
For me, this brings meditation to mind. I like to have a ritual of meditating every day. But if I let the fact that I missed one day mean that I’m a failure, I would never meditate again. Self-compassion is the key element that gives you resilience in new pursuits. And the best way to access self-compassion is by putting some distance from outside sources so we can connect to ourselves.
