I dette afsnit sætter vi spot på LDL-kolesterol og hvordan specifikke kostændringer kan, i langt de fleste tilfælde, sænke niveauet i blodet. Ifølge den Europæiske Forening for Åreforkalkning og hjerteforeninger verden over, er LDL-kolesterolet i blodet det vigtigste fedtstof, vi bør have fokus på i forebyggelsen og behandlingen af åreforkalkning og udviklingen af hjerte-kar-sygdomme. Desværre har mere end 2 millioner danskere forhøjet LDL-kolesterol, men kostændringer alene eller i kombination med medicin, kan reducere LDL-kolesterolet.
