The responsibility for tasks such as inserting and managing feeding tubes has traditionally fallen within the domain of nurses. However, there's a growing recognition of the unique expertise that dietitians can bring to this area. In this two-part podcast series with senior dietitian, Kim Lunardi, we’ll delve into the world of credentialing for dietitians, focusing on their ability to perform tasks like inserting nasogastric tubes and managing balloon-retained gastrostomy tubes. In part one, we talk to Kim about the motivations behind getting credentialed, Kim's personal journey towards obtaining these credentials and how the implementation of dietitian credentialing has impacted patient care.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • The motivation behind getting credentialed
  • How long credentialing takes and what it involves
  • The impact of dietitian credentialing on patient care
