03: From Passive Wife & Mother to Powerful Woman, Mom & Partner
Manage episode 376808317 series 3510893
Being a wife and a mother are two of the toughest, most rewarding roles a woman can step into during her life.
I began my role as a wife and mother in my early 20s. Without a clear idea of what I wanted my life to look like, it was easy to take a back seat and allow life to happen. Rather than being an active participant, I think I was along for the ride, believing it was what life was supposed to be like.
Struggling to find my identity as a wife and mother was complicated by my people-pleasing tendencies, infidelity within my marriage and increasing isolation.
It wasn’t until my self-worth had been eroded and my energy exhausted that I finally began to take steps to save my life. When I transitioned from being a passenger, took control of the wheel and became the driver of the car barreling through my life, I was finally able to begin building a better me.
When I finally prioritized my health & wellness (physical, emotional & mental), I was able to create genuine honest connections with my kids and eventually welcome a true partner into my life – all because I started loving myself, trusting myself and being me.
