There's been a push over the last few years to pull away from "hot mess mom" culture, because moms don't have to be sacrificing themselves and showing up disheveled and drained to be considered "good enough." And I'm 100% on board with that. I am a huge proponent of moms prioritizing and taking care of themselves, and completely do not support messages that say otherwise.
But here's the thing, I've always been a "hot mess," and becoming mother definitely did not make that less true. If anything, having kids has made getting my sh*t together even more of a challenge. And so here and now, I'm reclaiming the title "hot mess," because showing up as a bit of a mess does not mean I'm not caring for myself. And if you feel the same about yourself, this episode is for you!
