E21. Fighting for Body Positivity and Mental Health with Chase Sterling
Manage episode 379560750 series 3519932
Today, I’m chatting with Chase Sterling, a military veteran who is very active in the workplace wellness world.
She shares her personal journey through diet culture and its impact on her self-esteem and body image.
From her early exposure to diet culture and disordered eating patterns, to her experiences in the military, where she excelled in physical fitness but faced additional pressure to meet strict physical standards, Chase shares a unique perspective on the challenges faced by many in similar situations.
Together, we delve into the toxic effects of diet culture on our body image and mental health, and how the unrealistic physical expectations perpetuated by the media and society create a slippery slope towards disordered eating and body image issues.
Lastly, we discuss the importance of body autonomy, the power of aging, and the permission it grants us to care less about what others think.
By sharing her journey, Chase encourages us to question the societal norms that perpetuate diet culture, and empowers us to take control of our own well-being with a healthier, more mindful approach.
I really enjoyed this conversation with Chase and I hope you do, too!
