In this conversation, I talk with Nick about his journey from growing up in the city, living in the suburbs, outgrowing his suburban Permaculture homestead, to then moving with his family to some beautiful land in rural NW Wisconsin. Since making the journey, they’ve lived together in a camper, built a tiny house, grown hemp, planted a kitchen garden, built a chickshaw for their chicken flock, connected with the local Amish community, raised livestock, AND managed to keep their family of 5 healthy and happy living in close quarters together throughout this journey. They’re off-grid out of necessity and actively teaching their growing family the importance of determination and resilience to make a change in your life and grow your dreams into reality. I’m honored and inspired by their story and hope you enjoy learning more about them and their regenerative farming, homesteading & lifestyle.

Nick Colacci is a husband and father of three. Born and raised in the city of Minneapolis. A self employed tradesman, painter, handy man, Permaculturalist, homesteader and musician. In 2019 he and his family moved to 45 acres of raw land in north west WI. Working with his wife Shauna they are transforming conventional AG land into a diverse polyculture of plants and animals. Guided by the permaculture principals they are slowly building a homestead that will supply the family and community with healthy food and medicine while enriching the environment.
