Honor and Perfection for a Warrior's Journey Home
In today's episode, Tyler is honored to have two very special guests, Monique Hovey, herd manager of the Caisson Platoon of the Third Infantry Regiment also known as the Old Guard and Captain Carlin Keally, platoon leader, to talk about the preparation, time and attention to detail that goes into this honorable tradition.
As the last fully mounted unit in the DOD, the Caisson Platoon consists of one gray horse team and one black horse team. These teams collectively carry out eight funerals a day with precision and perfection to ensure every warrior's journey home is an honorable one.
The Caisson Platoon Stables is open to the public for tours Tuesday through Saturday, 12 to 1600 or 4:00 PM and they do walking tours. Visit the links below to learn more and how to plan your visit to the stables.
