Hello, and welcome to Beauty and the Biz where we’ll talk about Boris Ackerman, MD having 30 competitors, 30 years ago to now having 300. Additionally, we’ll discuss the general business and marketing side of plastic surgery.

As always, I’m your host, Catherine Maley, author of “Your Aesthetic Practice – What your patients are saying.” I’m also a consultant to plastic surgeons, to get them more patients and more profits.

Presenting today’s episode titled, “30 to 300 Competitors — with Boris M. Ackerman, MD.”

Obviously, the popularity for cosmetic surgery continues to grow with no end in sight and that’s good news for plastic surgeons.

Because of that demand, it allows surgeons to make a very nice living compared to other medical specialties and that leads to higher status, respect and recognition which is good for the ego ;-)

However, on the other hand, this high demand comes with intense competition among plastic surgeons, high costs of running and marketing a cosmetic practice, high expectations of cosmetic patients and legal risks if they’re not happy.

Specifically, this week’s Beauty and the Biz Podcast is an interview I did with Dr. Boris Ackerman — a board-certified plastic surgeon in private practice in Newport Beach, CA for more than 30 years.

By the way, when he arrived in Newport Beach 30 years ago, there were only 30 competitors and that has grown to 300 since then!

Specifically, we talked about:

  • Firstly, choosing a practice location for family and lifestyle reasons
  • Secondly, how to compete when you are in an uber competitive area
  • Thirdly, financial and regulatory challenges of maintaining an in-office surgical suite
  • Fourthly, his shift to focus on facial rejuvenation surgery and more…

Enjoy!

"The fastest way to success is to model other successful surgeons who have what you want, but you can only see their results, not the path they took to get there.

So, you continue to jump from one thing to another, hoping to find something that will work for you too, but it rarely does. So, try this shortcut instead. It’s guaranteed to move you forward. I compiled my intellectual property to grow cosmetic revenues, everything I’ve gleaned over the years into one playbook of the most successful practices and what they do to win.

Go to www.CosmeticPracticeVault.com and let’s grow your cosmetic revenue."
