Julie Easen is another corporate graduate mom who has had an extremely successful and satisfying 20 career years save the work-life balance aspect. Before leaving the corporate world, she fought hard in order to gain and keep the privilege of a once-a-week work-from-home arrangement. But even with that, it dawned on her that her children are growing with less and less time with her which made her feel like failing as a mom and the exact opposite of her high-profile success in the corporate. Her predicament culminated when she finally was offered her dream job, the place she practically had worked to reach in the last 20 years. The career she dreamed of and worked hard for had finally peaked and paid off, but since that was taking her further away from the precious time she wanted to spend with her kids, she turned it down. Hence was the colossal shift in her life.
Highlights:
  1. Career promotion -- made her realize she had already achieved everything she wanted to outside the home, but it scared her thinking how much further it will take her away from her kids -- her top priority
  2. Career break -- after 20 years of chasing the corporate ladder, she took a career break and spent time with her family; they even moved back to the UK
  3. Transition period - the break and the transition period allowed them to live out their principle of "family first" and led to their discovery that their eldest was on the autism spectrum
  4. Career refocused - instead of focusing on her career, her husband took on the role and became the major provider for the family
  5. Newfound passion -- the diagnosis of their son led to a lot of struggles with the education system, paved the way to their homeschooling, and gave her another way of helping people through homeschooling especially during the pandemic

After giving up a dream career in order to prioritize her children, she experienced being at a loss for six months. But with the support of her husband, she was able to pick up herself and be great in what she has chosen to do -- as a hands-on mom and teacher of her own children. Not only that she was able to adjust to the needs of her son, but she has also extended her newfound passion to help other families who consider homeschooling. With this passion, she also found another lucrative venture while being virtual with her kids 100% of the time. Without a doubt, she believes she is now where she really needs to be.
