About Jean:
Jean Hébert obtained his PhD from the University of California San Francisco studying how embryonic stem cells generate the early cell lineages that make up mammalian embryos. He then moved to Stanford University for postdoctoral studies on neural stem cells and how they generate the part of the neocortex, the part of the brain that houses our highest cognitive functions, self identity, and consciousness. These studies continued after he joined the faculty at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he became a tenured full professor. While at Einstein, he founded a company, BE Therapeutics, to establish tissue replacement strategies to reverse all forms of age-related brain damage. Jean is now joining ARPA-H at the National Institute of Health.
