Ep:24 Rach Hilton - Saving babies in Vietnam
Manage episode 259962982 series 2660701
Rachel and her husband Joshua live in Danang Vietnam with their 3 children aged 12,10 and 5. They currently have a project called Life House, which supports single mothers who have chosen to keep their babies rather than abort. What they’re doing over there is so good. We talk about what it’s like being an expat in Vietnam and Rachel gives great advice for anyone who feels like God is calling them to overseas ministry. Rach encourages us to step outside of our comfort zone, say yes to opportunities, have courage and trust God to do the rest.
Just a quick disclaimer, we do briefly mention the Corona virus. I recorded this interview back in February and at that time here in Australia we only had a few cases so things were very different at the time for us. Just putting that into context there.
In Vietnam there is a very high abortion rate due to the one child family law for government workers in Vietnam and the shame around pregnancy outside of marriage.
Provide a home for women and their babies with support and education.
Prenatal care, postnatal, feeding, health and nutrition,
Transition between countries for kids. Responding to hard questions from their son as he sees injustices.
Say yes to opportunities, stepping out of our comfort zones, have some courage and God will do the rest. Model this for our children.
“Be prepared, pray and don’t be afraid to share what God has put on your heart.” Rachel’s advice to anyone who feels called to overseas ministry.
