Stress affects the physiology of women on many levels.
For women with a physical womb during their reproductive years, it can influence menstrual cycles and fertility. For women without a womb or in post-menopausal years, stress can impact energy levels, emotional balance, and result in an overall lackluster experience of life.
The impact?
Irregular periods, painful cramps intensified by stress-induced cortisol, alterations in flow—some women experience heavier bleeding, others lighter periods. In severe cases, extreme stress can lead to amenorrhea, the absence of menstruation.
