PITFALLS: Logic won’t get past defenses. Compromise means everyone loses. Hierarchy means good ideas go unsaid. SOLUTION: 1. Ask for ideas 2. Ask is there more 3. Ask if you understand correctly Step 3 allows for the other party to correct their ideas and more importantly to hear how it sounds out loud.
