Ryan’s a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Sheffield in England. His research focuses on virtues that regard the wellbeing of others, which includes intellectual transparency, intellectual dependability, identification with all humanity, and other topics.
Ryan's most recent book is Intellectual Dependability: A Virtue Theory of the Epistemic and Educational Ideal published in 2021.
