We talk with Anthony Flaccavento, farmer and writer, co-founder of the Rural Urban Bridge Initiative (RUBI).
We discuss the narratives about rural Americans, and how they differ from those about urban Americans. Our current political and economic systems are rigged by elites and corporate interests. We need to recognize the importance of rural citizens, and see how all parts of the US populace can work together.
Part 2:
We talk with Kalena Thomhave, a freelance journalist who writes on social policy.
We discuss how credit card debt is marketed to US users, and how it keeps people in debt forever. Half of all Americans have revolving balances. Fees and interest are highly profitable to banks. We need to encourage the limit to late fees, and other "junk" fees as part of fiscal policy to protect consumers.
