Marielle Gross is an assistant professor of bioethics and rural OB/GYN at University of Pittsburgh and Johns Hopkins. She studies the health data supply chain through the lens of structural justice. Their pioneering work is advancing "decentralized biobanking" as a conceptual framework and technological approach for fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in biobanking and translational research. She first piloted “de-bi” for a large breast cancer biobank, and has founded de-bi, Co. to support further R&D via partnering with additional populations and use cases. As a physician, scientist and founder, Dr. Gross's mission is to empower patients, physicians and scientists to collaborate in unlocking the potential of biobanking as a cornerstone of precision medicine.
