MTB Tip of the Week
When the weather is well below freezing on your MTB ride, use a "Runner's Soft Flask." You can fit the soft flask in a waist pack that you keep next to your body. This keeps the water from freezing! Winter Riding Tips:
- Cold weather riding Cheat Sheet! Keep notes of what you wear at what temperature.
- Start/park at the bottom of a climb.
- Lightweight windbreaker
- Wool socks
- Fall/winter Shoes a little big (or thin socks) to let the heat circulate.
- Bring extra gloves & cap to change into
- Get ready in the car. Put your shoes & gloves under the heat in the car on the ride to the trail.
- Don't use cotton - get a technical base layer.
- Shorts! Legs don't get cold!
- Wear sunglasses
- Insulated water bottle
- Insulated hose for hydration pack
- Keep the water moving in the tube
- Put your jacket over your hydration pack to keep your water warmer
- Frozen Trails are the FASTEST!
