Hey there, beach lovers! It's time for your New York surf zone forecast, so grab your boards and let's dive in!
Today in Kings (Brooklyn), we've got a high rip current risk until 6 PM, with the surf height around 3 feet. Expect the weather to be cloudy with a chance of rain, so bring your rain gear just in case. The UV index is low, so don't forget your sunscreen even under the clouds. The water temperature is in the upper 60s, and the high temperature for the day will also be in the upper 60s. Winds will be coming from the east at around 15 mph, so it might be a bit breezy out there.
Over in Southern Queens, including Jacob Riis Park and Rockaway Beach, similar conditions with a high rip current risk, 3 feet surf height, and cloudy weather persist. Remember, always swim near a lifeguard and keep an eye out for those rip currents!
Heading to Southern Nassau with Atlantic Beach, Long Beach, Lido Beach, and Jones Beach? You guessed it – high rip current risk, 3 feet surf height, and cloudy skies. Make sure to check back for updated forecasts before Memorial Day weekend in 2025.
In Southwestern Suffolk at Gilgo State Park and Robert Moses State Park, the story repeats – high rip current risk, 3 feet surf height, and cloudy weather. Winds will be a bit stronger here, around 20 mph from the east.
And last but not least, in Southeastern Suffolk covering Smith Point, Cupsogue Beach, Hither Hills State Park, and Ditch Plains, there's a high rip current risk with a slightly higher surf height of around 4 feet. Expect mostly cloudy skies and a chance of rain, so be prepared for some wet surfing.
Remember, safety first! Always swim near a lifeguard, have a flotation device, and be cautious of rip currents. If you get caught in one, relax and float, don't fight it!
