Lauren Rhoades talks with author Gerry Wilson, whose new novel That Pinson Girl follows a young mother in a rural North Mississippi community, against the backdrop of the deprivation of World War I and the 1918 influenza epidemic. A seventh generation Mississippian, Gerry Wilson grew up in the red clay hills of the north. Her short story collection, Crosscurrents and Other Stories, was nominated for the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters Fiction Award. On the Arts Hour, Gerry talks about her journey to becoming a writer, her years as a high school English teacher, and, of course her new novel.
