Ideas for Structuring your Class
Manage episode 348991566 series 3411996
In all my years of teaching, I’ve never heard an ELA teacher say they have too much time to cover the standards. We have no control over the length of our class period, but we do have control over how we spend that time. By strategically structuring our day/week, we can create time for students to read, practice and develop their skills.
In this podcast, you will learn how to strategically use the time available for teaching ELA by establishing your 4 non-negotiables for planning reading workshop: creating time for reading, delivering short and concise mini lessons, conducting reading conferences, and providing time for students to share their work. Additionally, this lesson will provide sample schedules to help you structure your day/week.
