Episode Notes
We're arriving once again in your podcast feed for a brief glimpse into the room at one of our recent events: "The economics of pandemic preparedness: Trade-offs in peacetime and pandemics". This was an event co-organised and funded by the Imperial College London Abdul Latif Jameel Institute for Disease and Emergency Analytics, the Institute of Infection, and The Centre for Health Economics & Policy Innovation. The day gathered experts across these institutions to sit down and discuss how we can better align health and economic needs for future pandemics.
You'll hear from Prof. Jonathan Haskel of the Bank of England, Prof. Susan Michie - the Director of the Centre for Behavioural Change, and Dr. Els Torreele of the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose.
You can watch the full series of talks and discussions in the event video recording here: https://youtu.be/RZQbYqmk5eE?si=GMsK6sXpgagbt4oL
Other speakers include Prof. Sir John Edmunds from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; Dr. Ifedayo Adetifa, the former Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention; and Prof. Edith Patouillard from the World Health Organisation (WHO) Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose.
Even better, we've just published our report from this event, detailing the ideas generated, and how we're going to start addressing the challenges discussed at this event: https://t.co/nOWrO0VKYR
