As the older adult population in the U.S. grows rapidly, demand for home care services is reaching unprecedented levels. However, the home care sector faces challenges around workforce shortages and the escalating cost of private pay care, which many middle- and lower-income seniors cannot afford. To meet rising demands and promote affordable, high-quality care, the sector must focus on three key areas – reinforcing the home care workforce, advocating for more public funding, and embracing technology. Tech innovations like electronic documentation and care coordination platforms can maximize efficiency and empower caregivers. Additionally, technology has immense potential to aid families in providing informal caregiving. As the senior population continues expanding, it is critical that the home care sector innovates solutions addressing workload capacity, cost barriers and promotes broader access to care in the home setting. The ability of home care to leverage technology and workforce strategies while expanding public funding will be pivotal to ensure aging in place remains viable for more seniors in the years ahead.#homecare #aginginplace #seniorcare #eldercare #caregiving
