Time tracking is a great tool for understanding efficiency. It can be helpful in finding places where you can reduce the time it takes to do certain tasks or reduce the transition time between tasks. Time tracking is NOT the tool to use when determining if your staff is doing what they’re supposed to be doing. This week’s episode 99 of Female Founders Breaking Boundaries is about why I don’t do time tracking!
Have you ever felt like you were WAY too busy, stressed out, burnt out, and overwhelmed, so you were advised to delegate some tasks to take things off your plate and free up some time? Except, maybe it didn't work. If getting out of the day-to-day in your business was as simple as hiring more people, then why are you still feeling overwhelmed and burned out? You are not alone! Sometimes, simply delegating tasks doesn’t work and instead shifts your workload from “doing” to “managing.”

I invite you to use the exercise that our own C-Suite clients use to take the first step in turning your team into a well-oiled, self-managed machine- and get you out of the delegation catch-22. Download the exercise here to get started!

In this episode of Female Founders Breaking Boundaries, I’m sharing an area of frustration that comes up a lot for my clients which is knowing whether or not you’re getting what you’re paying for from your employees and actionable steps you can take right now to figure out why something is not working and resolve it quickly. Some of the things I cover in this episode are:

  • Celebrating Maureen Werrbach (The Group Practice Exchange), Julie Herres (Green Oak Accounting), and Niki Ramirez (HR Answers) for working together with me to become the powerhouse leadership team you need for your business.
  • The drawbacks of using time tracking to see if employees are doing what they’re supposed to be doing.
  • What we can do instead of time tracking to keep our employees accountable.
  • Determining the most effective KPIs to include on your scorecard.
  • Other factors (outside of the employee’s control) that are keeping them from hitting their targets.
  • What’s on my mind: Using timeblocking as a simple way to maximize your time and keep your brain in one lane.

Your concerns are valid when something is not working in your business. However, how you handle the solution must be delicate so that you aren’t doing more harm than good to employee morale.
