Hire Slow, Fire Fast
Manage episode 381731760 series 2917040
Bringing someone new onto your team is a significant investment in both time and money. Not only in the financial compensation you give them but in the benefits and the time it takes to onboard and train them. Because of this, it is so important that you take your time when hiring and hire intentionally. And if it doesn’t work out it is equally as important to let them go quickly as to not waste additional time and money. This week’s episode 100 of Female Founders Breaking Boundaries is about hiring slow and firing fast!
Have you ever felt like you were WAY too busy, stressed out, burnt out, and overwhelmed, so you were advised to delegate some tasks to take things off your plate and free up some time? Except, maybe it didn't work. If getting out of the day-to-day in your business was as simple as hiring more people, then why are you still feeling overwhelmed and burned out? You are not alone! Sometimes, simply delegating tasks doesn’t work and instead shifts your workload from “doing” to “managing.”
I invite you to use the exercise that our own C-Suite clients use to take the first step in turning your team into a well-oiled, self-managed machine- and get you out of the delegation catch-22. Download the exercise here to get started!
In this episode of Female Founders Breaking Boundaries, I’m sharing the importance of doing the upfront work it takes to ensure you’re hiring an employee that is both aligned with the position as well as the company and actionable advice you can use to hire with intention. Some of the things I cover in this episode are:
- Celebrating Michelle Maryns, founder and CEO at We Sparkle Co. for creating an all-in-one tool that helps women entrepreneurs in launching and expanding their business.
- Using quarterly planning, accountability charts, and scorecards to be more intentional about who you’re bringing onto your team.
- Commonly overlooked things that are important to evaluate when it comes to hiring the right person.
- Knowing when it's time to invest in the development of an employee or let them go.
- What's on my mind: The life lesson I am still working on is shifting my perspective to accept that good days are still good days, even when they look different from one another.
It is worth it to take your time and hire with intention. Not only will it save you time and money, it’ll save you the energy it takes to start the hiring process from scratch.
