Christians. Sisters. Best Friends.
Christina and Melissia talk about the Marriage Retreat that they just went on with their husbands as well as just marriage in general. The theme of the marriage retreat was running your race. Marriage is hard and if we are not putting God at the center of it, it can lead to the end for many. God wants us to marry someone and stay together forever. After we consummate the marriage, we become not two flesh but one. Having more than one partner in our life time causes us to carry the damage and connection to others, into our marriage. This and other traumas, hurt and baggage can cause many obstacles in our marriage. We need to find healing for these hurts, throw off the things that get in the way of our relationship with our spouse. Don’t just sit it aside, it needs thrown off with urgency! No marriage is perfect, but we all should ask ourselves if our marriage reflects God. When non Christian people look at our marriage, do they see something that they would want? When our children see how we interact with our spouse do they see love? Do they see an example of how to be a married couple? Looking to God when we have disagreements and putting our focus on Him is a great way for children to learn how a marriage should be. Like it or not, your children will probably mirror how you are in your marriage. You are the example of how to have disagreements and co parent. We have to admit that we have work to do there. It’s so worth it. We have the power to change generations upon generations by setting that example!
Hebrews 12:1-3 CSB
“Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him who endured such hostility from sinners against himself, so that you won’t grow weary and give up.”
