Let your purpose be bigger than your obstacles.

“Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour.” John 12:27

Jesus faced the very troubling prospect of arrest, torture and execution. The path that he had chosen in non violently confronting corrupt and exploitative religious and political institutions meant that his death was inevitable.

Jesus also stated in the Gospel of John that he knew his life and death would serve as an example to all humanity. He would show that the way things are, are not the way they need to be. His example would draw humanity to another way- a way that truly brought life to all.

He believed that his life would be a catalyst for the type of individual and social transformation that he described as the Kingdom of God.

His purpose was bigger than his obstacles. When we embrace a noble purpose for our lives, the problems will always be smaller than our purpose.

I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you.
