I started this podcast as a diary in October 2019 after I almost died. After being released from the hospital, I found hope for life again through God, Therapy and Podcasting. This episode is me speaking directly to my sexuality. It has been a major challenge in my life and may men today struggle with being themselves in regards to their sexuality. I am one of these men. However, After a lot of therapy and healing, I am able to truly speak to my experiences navigating my sexuality and where I currently am. It has caused a lot of mental anguish navigating and unpacking because I still am challenged with navigating my lifestyle. At the same time, I am thankful that I live in my truth. One day someone will love me for me, embrace all aspects of me, and share some of this love I slready have for myself. It is no ones responsibility to make me happy. I got this. Yet I look forward to the day I find someone else who is just as happy with themselves as me and we can share memorable life moments together.…
This episode is meant to showcase how much I have grown since starting this podcast. I am very grateful for the opportunities I have had over the years and its a blessing to still be alive today. Inspiration and encouragement go a long way. And today I am proud that I can look back and simply say thank you to everyone who I met on this journey. There are some things I will NEVER say because I respect all women, especially black women. I get it now. Its all love. -OG Legacy Slut AKA The PodFather…

This episode was created in efforts to highlight the importance of creating a self space to express myself and pour into me. I used a tictok video from Dr. Raquel Martin, A Licensed clinical Psychologist, Professor and scientist. In this audio from the video, she breaks down why it is important to create safe spaces for black men to be validated, and express ourselves. For the majority of my life, I have been a people pleaser. Now, I am a recovering people pleaser because I realize how I was created to be this way. It is essentially a form of violence. Podcasting is my safe space, a form of anti-violence, that allows me to pour into myself, create and engage with community and like minded people. My goal is to continue to be an advocate for myself first and allow myself the space to exist, feel all the emotions and become better at managing life. All aspects of life.…
What is a friend to you? What are your expextations of friendship? As I am continuing my healing journey, I am learning the true worth and value of a good friend. Over the last few years, many people I once considered to be a friend are no longer a friend. And I am simultaneously learning, that this is ok. It doesnt always mean that a friend becomes a foe, sometimes you simply grow apart. This is part of an ongoing conversation around friendship and healing, for me at least. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts on friendship.…
In this diary entry, I discuss a recent event that derailed my entire life. I was involuntary committed to a psychiatric hospital for 10 days, in which my rights were violated as a patient. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health - Rights of Individuals receiving mental health and developmental disability services, my rights were GROSSLY violated. I do not like this experience, it was traumatic, scary and scared me forever. This has caused my life to go into a completely different direction. I haven't been the same since... This is my story,…
In the second podcast of my sophomore podalbum, I reintroduce myself as "THEE PodFATHER" and give a brief description of how I became to be who I am today as an creative.

Cheers to 3 years of podcasting. This has been a journey that I feel so many emotions about ending. I found hope, lost hope and found it again over the past 3 years. In this moment, I still do not have it all together, and honestly, I am not sure if I ever will. However, I am glad that I was able to tell my story. I just hope someone else finds the ability to overcome and find a way to live with their mental health and wellness challenges. I may not be the change that makes a great impact on the world, but I hope to be the spark that ignites a flame of change. I'm tired, still challenged and I do not know what the future holds. I know the best thing for me to do is to end this and move on. Thank you for listening, -Blake…

This diary entry is a deep reflection on the idea of "Letting go of the pain" I recorded on February 7th 2022. So this episode is really a reflection on my life from October/November 2021 - February 2022. In this vulnerable, raw diary entry, I was realizing I need to truly let go of the pain from my past, the pain that I carry and accept what is. The pain of my grandmother no loner being here... I reflected on this idea of letting go of who I thought I was supposed to be and accepted who I am. Letting go of the need to control the world around me and focusing on a controlled environment. I believe the pain of her death and absence on earth is not as severe as it once was. I still miss her a lot and its crazy its been 6 years and I finally feel ok talking about. What's up! In today's diary entry, I give you all an update on my mental health journey with medication after 9 weeks of taking Lexapro; a daily medication for depression and anxiety. After listening, you'll have a better understanding of why its important to put yourself first and believe in you; trusting and believe that everything will be alright. It can be tough to make decisions in life that you NEED to do, especially when they are not what you WANT to do. Recently I have had to make decisions that are best for my mental health, although I did not want to make them deep down inside. As important as money is to my life and mental wellness, my mental wellness still takes a priority over money and anything else. It's literarily a matter of life or death for me if I don't. Its the end of 2021 and I feel like I'm still processing 2020 in many ways but if you listen to this episode, you will know why this is the final episode for season 6 and I will be taking hard break from podcasting for some time. All I can say now is I will be back with new episodes sometime in the future. I hope you would follow/subscribe to my podcast here to know when I return. Whats Up! This diary entry is to bring awareness to suicide prevention. The week of Labor Day, I was not in a good space at all. I found myself in a deep dark space. I called the prevention hotline and found the help I needed in that moment. Listening to this episode, you will get a vulnerable, honest and raw insight into what it is like for someone who faces mental health and wellness challenges. “You can heal. You can overcome. You can get through it. Just decide within your mind and it will happen.” These are often the words we say to someone who is depressed. As someone who has been there, in the midst of deep, dark, depression & anxiety, these words do not help in the moment... most of the time. I want to let people know that you CAN find a way to believe these words. Even when I did not believe them, I decided that I would work on trying to believe in them. Today, I confidently say it to myself daily. You can heal. You can overcome. You can get through it. Just hang in there. Trust the process. You're never alone...…
Life got hands bro, and I’m tired of fighting… it seems like the more I push forward, the harder and more difficult life becomes. I was at the top of the mountain a few weeks ago; energized, motivated and inspired. The opposite of that is now my reality; I feel like I’m at the bottom, once again, of the lowest valley and it’s very dark down here. This journey to wellness started long before this podcast; The thoughts, behaviors and feelings I thought I had a handle on, are showing up in a way that shows, I really don’t. I need help. I’m dealing with some serious mental health issues & no one around me seems to understand. Nor is anyone around me capable of helping. People lack the skills to actually support someone like myself. I’m Lowkey in a crisis right now and it really hurts. Slick, not gunna lie, I’m scared. All people say is “push through,” “It will get better” “Your so strong” … And all the cliche “just be happy & positive” shit people say to someone who is depressed. I’m sick and tired. I often feel betrayed by my community, and often times my family, for not being what I need. I’m more angry with myself for not being able to get ahold of this shit sooner because my challenges are amplified by the results of my own actions and poor decisions. At this point, I’m 31 years old and this is my responsibility to deal with. I find myself very angry lately… with aggressive, hostile thoughts. My irritation level is very high. I find myself doing self destructive things; and it’s difficult to do the day to day tasks of life like cooking, cleaning up and getting out of bed. My therapy sessions are not consistent enough; it sucks because I also don’t have insurance and cannot afford therapy. I went so hard for all of this over the past few years because I see the vision what this will be and I believe it will come; But at the end of the day, I have to survive all this shit to see that vision come to reality. I often feel like I’m crying out for help snd no one is listening. Life happens so fast and at this point, I can’t keep just reacting out of desperation to survive. I gotta try something new; and while I figure this out, I’ll be taking a major step away while I figure out what’s next. You’d think I’d be going hard right now but the reality of my life right now is, I need help. I literally cannot keep working myself this fucking hard to build and create something. & no one is going to help or save me but ME. So I have to truly go at my own pace and do what is best for me. Over the past week, I find myself irritated when people say positive things like “you’ll get through it, things will get better, it won’t last long,” and to be quite honest, I’m tired of hearing that shit. I been challenged with this long before this podcast, it’s been over 10 years; hell the majority of my life. Talking is only doing so much right now. I need to take action. Unfortunately, I know I have to take action alone.…

What's up y'all, im back with another diary entry! This is the first of a 3 part episode all about my experience with Podcast Movement 2021. It was a lot for me personally to attend the worlds biggest podcast conference this year. Many obstacles and challenges presented themselves, especially in the week prior to going; but I managed to go, have great time and experience a conference that im certain will have a positive impact on my podcast career moving forward. Part 1 is mostly about all the things that tried to prevent me from attending. Basically this is all the bad before the good! It was all worth it in the end and im happy that I made it, against all odds! -- www.diaryofamadblackman.com Follow @DIARYOFAMBM on all socials | Fanbase, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Clubhouse | DMs OPEN! Hey y'all, this was a quick and impulsive diary entry! I am madd hype about my new mic I recently purchased! It actually came as a kit with a Mic, boom stand and headphone! Although I only needed new headphones, I allowed myself to go ahead and buy everything because I wanted to! And it made me feel good. So this episode is just a quick diary entry. I actually do these quite often but I went into this one with the mindset of releasing it. We are back with another episode with our sponsor, Monica, one of the owners fo Canna Comforts. Focused on bringing all natural products to be an alternative to prescription drugs, 2020 was a year that literally stopped the world. In this episode, me and Monica catch up & discuss where the business is and how COVID-19 impacted the cannabis industry. The economic landscape is completely different for almost every industry that exists. The cannabis industry is a unique and relatively new industry; even before the COVID-19 pandemic, the industry was going through many changes due to some states starting to legalize the use of cannabis and marijuana. In this episode, you will get a glimpse into how 2020 impacted the cannabis industry. -- Follow @DIARYOFAMBM on all socials | Fanbase, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Clubhouse | DMs OPEN! In this diary entry, I have a special guest, Zel, who is the founder and creator of the streetwear clothing brand called LONE N DISASTER. Born in Denver Colorado, he had what he describes as a “typical rough childhood, like other colored kids.” He experienced the loss of my mother at the age of 9 due to gun violence and his father was in and out of jail most of his life. Despite all odds, this young man has blossomed into a creative genius who is sure to make waves in the fashion industry. He says he found his peace through designing clothes, fashion and being creative. Zel is on his way to being an icon and aims to be a global creator and influence people through all life disasters, by promoting peace through LND STREETWEAR. It was an absolute pleasure to have this man on my podcast, to share space to talk about his brand and what he has already accomplished. This diary entry is one of the few from around this time that I did not have to do much editing to. I was very happy with the space that I was in. I was on an extreme high and I was filled with joy. To meet so many amazing people through social media, restored my faith in humanity and social media itself. I hope you will begin to use social media for good and be intentional with how it is utilized. It has become a place of refuge at times and connected me to people I would have never met. Especially if I had not started sharing my story and talking about what I have been through. -- Instagram + Facebook + Twitter: @DIARYOFAMBM Email: blake@theblackpodcastclub.com Follow My Podcast Business on IG + FB: @theblackpodcastclub www.theblackpodcastclub.com This episode is sponsored by Canna Comforts | CC produces the finest, all-natural products on earth.... Am I Bipolar? After listening to a live video that was very powerful live on IG, I revisiting this idea of what type of mental illness I may be challenged with. However, in present day, I am confident knowing I am the healthiest mentally than I have ever been in my adult life. I find solitude in my journey with people who have supported me to this point. The idea that I am not sure what "kind of illiness" does not bother me anymore. I may not be 100% certain what I have had in the past, but today I am healthy and I am great. I do not focus on being diagnosed with a particular illness because I have found wellness. I focus on my wellness and maintaining it, through therapy and support from my tribe and community. Healing is possible. Living AND thriving with mental illness is possible. If I can do it, so can you. I know I can because I have. I found my strength from someone else, just like I hope you do, in this podcast, this diary entry.. Isolated with Depression, Anxiety and Loneliness July 20th 2020 is a day I was having sucidal ideation. Triggered, I jumped on the mic to let it out. This happened in the day time, of that day. It started with watching someone I admire, Amanda Seals, be vulnerable and share her journey with mental health. It was so moving to see someone I view as a strong pillar of the black community, be vulnerable and share where she was. It was a relief and trigger all at once. I had the confidence to know I could continue to be vulnerable and heal, yet the reality of life hit me as well. This was the beginning of a very rough day, a day that I am choose to share with the world. Suicide and mental illness is real and we need to raise awareness and implement new strategies for people to cope, heal and manage their mental health. I woke up battling suicidal ideation on July 12th, 2020. Some of the reasons for why I was feeling the way I was is because I missed teaching, I was struggling financially, almost homeless living in a hotel. This was in the midst of the height of the pandemic, I was, STILL AM, tired of racism and white supremacy; I can now say I think I was struggling with sex addiction and how I was behaving with people. This diary entry is one fo the first episodes I recorded like this. There are several parts that I took out due to how dark my thoughts became during the recording. It's explicit, and kind of hard to listen to. However, I've overcome this. I've survived these thoughts and I am no longer here. I am thankful to God, the unvierse, my therapist, and myself. Because I have done the work! I have been focused on healing, managing my self care routine, and unapologetically loving myself. We met in DC to record this episode and discuss how black men and women can support each other. Amina started The Dear Men Blog as a hobby because she was having issues with men. She began to write about her love life and issues in society to eventually transition to have live discussions. Amina now curates conversations with Black Men and Women that encourages people to be vulnerable and transparent conversations. She has even traveled the US to bridge the gap between men and women, and create ways to support and uplift each other in community. I hope you all enjoy this diary entry between myself and Amina. The Birth and Evolution of Blake was recorded in 2021, the last recording for what I call my first Pod-Album. All 10 episodes of this season are out now, kinda like the release of an album. In this first diary entry, I start this season with where I am currently. I bring you up into my present day life, with updates since the coming recordings. Most of this season was recorded in July of 2020, beginning after I started seeing a therapist. These introspective diary entries are the reality of where I once was mentally. Struggling with depressions, anxiety, and suicidal ideation, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, riots, corruption and a chaotic government, I began the series Podcasting for Mental Health. Since the conception of this idea, I started to do the daily work of healing; mental, physically and spiritually. I began to seek therapy twice a week and document my journey. These diary entries are from the beginning of this journey. A snapshot into my life battling mental illness. A reflection of my mental health growth. I hope these episodes bring awareness to mental health and helped to ease the challenges of those facing mental health issues. I hope it works to end the stigma in the black community, especially for black men, and sparks the flame of healing in the minds of those who listen. I am not an expert on mental health, but I am an expert of my mental health journey. I am a mental health advocate who aims to grow and evolve. Healing is not a destination, it a journey. This is a small part of my journey during 2020. Wow, I am mesmerized that I am writing this. Diary entry 89, Season 3 Finale of Diary of a Mad Black Man. There is a lot to say but I will keep it short for now. If you've been following my podcast since I started, you know the growth, you've experienced it with me. Over the past year in 2020, we have all be challenged by the uncontrollable mental anguish we have all experienced. As my audience, you know my mental anguish didn't begin this year, it was amplified. I am taking a break on the podcast for a while. I am not sure when I will return to this but I can assure you, I will be back. This diary entry came after a difficult conversation I had and probably should not have had. However, it happened. The message here is that I need to rest. I need to take some more time to heal and process what I have created. It has been a beautiful journey overall and it is because of this safe space I created for myself, I am still alive today. My audience, you, know why I do this. It's not for the downloads, plays, money or "clout" that can potentially be gained. This is what healing looks like, for me. This is my truth. I am speaking my truth, living my truth and healing. Its a journey, not a destination. Its a process that will probably be forever ongoing. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for listening, supporting and engaging with me. I will be back in 2021 with Season 4 of my podcast. Bigger, better, and more healed than I am today. Making money, seeking downloads, or plays is not the motive of this podcast. Healing is. I hope for peace, prosperity, and an abundance of blessings to you and yours. Until we meet again, sometime in 2021, take care and stay blessed and be safe. - This episode is sponsored by Nature’s Treat LLC Order your CDB flowers from Nature’s Treat here ! In this diary entry, I release a lot. This was recorded July 3rd of this year. At this point in time, I was battling severe depression and feeling like I needed to get some things off my chest. Therefore, I came to my safe space, my diary. Hope you're able to take something away from this that is positive. I hope you can understand that even in your darkest moments, you can make it out. I thought this was going to be one of the last episodes I recorded at one point. Yet it's not. Im still here. - Instagram + Facebook + Twitter: @DIARYOFAMBM Email: blake@theblackpodcastclub.com Diary of a Mad Black Man is part of The Black Podcast Club IG + FB: @theblackpodcastclub Donate $10, $50 or $100 (or whatever your heart desires to give) Via or website! www.theblackpodcastclub.com Or Cash App: $theblackpodcastclub…
In this diary entry, I have a special guest, my mother. Trigger Warning, This is a heavy episode. This episode was recorded back in June of 2020. As the conversation unfolds, our tainted relationship comes to the surface. My sexuality and how she does not accept me has been one of the greatest issues in our relationship throughout my adulthood. I do not blame my mother for my childhood. Our relationship is the way it because of how she has treated me as an adult. I now navigate life believing I will never have the relationship with my family that I desire. As I continue to accept this, it doesn't necessarily make things easier to believe. I just lean more on those who allow me to be part of their life. As I embrace and love myself on a deeper level, I have been unpacking the internalized homophobia that I carry. Part of the reason for this is because of the homophobic environment I grew up in. Mom wasn't the only one...

For those of you who have been following my podcast for some time, you know a bit about Canna Comforts already. From the first episode with the founder, to this one, it has been a great journey working with this company. In this diary entry, we talk about some of the negative sides of the industry. The Hemp & Marijuana industry is a billion dollar industry with roots soaked in greed; connected to the black market and street dealing of marijuana. A completely legal, legitimate business, Canna Comforts is different; they are not in this industry for profit. Rather having a focus, to bring all natural alternatives to prescription drugs, to those who need it most. Albeit charitable, they are not safe from the malicious, cruel or cut throat mentality of this industry. Evil of this industry does not discriminate. In this episode, I learn more obstacles, adversity and evil of this industry. - This episode is sponsored by Canna Comforts | CC produces the finest, all-natural products on earth.... In this diary entry, I invite Andy on the podcast to do a part 2 of WTF! Me and Andy connected in the podcast world and created an episode together WTF Ep 189 on Real Men Feel, towards to beginning of June. Prior to that, we were on a panel together to discuss being black in America but - Andy is a white man. However, as I've grown to know him, I have found him to be an ally in this movement towards black liberation, equality and freedom. We came together because since these episodes, he has used his platform to push the culture forward and educate himself on his own white privilege and use it for good. This episode is heavy and it is not enough. However, it is one step forward in the right direction to bring change to the society we currently live in. I appreciate Andy for the work his is doing, being honest, vulnerable and transparent. We are all in this together. HEY WENDY! lol (I know you're reading this) Welcome to another great episode of Diary of a Mad Black Man. This diary entry is episode 2 of the friendship and adulting series. Wendy, who at the time of this recording, was my friend living in The Netherlands! We met through a group chat for The Roommates podcast. Through this group chat, and by the grace of God, we have built a bond that transcends the Atlantic Ocean and this world. Wendy is another friend of mine, who even before I considered her a friend, was there for me during my mental health challenges. Specifically after I became ill and almost died, she was there for me the best she could be, from the other side of the world. We go in depth into that during this episode and more. She drops many gems about friendship and how to maintain a balance between friendship and adulting. Wendy is my friend from The Netherlands and no distance between us will ever change that. She is also moving MUCH closer very soon. Ill save the details on that for when she's back on the podcast as a guest. In this series, I have friends of mine on the podcast to talk about our friendship, how we maintain a healthy balance between remaining friends and adulting. Friendship, let alone true friendship is hard to come by, especially as adults. The premise of this series is to discover the meaning of true friendship and how we maintain a balance between being an adult and remaining friends. In this episode, I sit down with my best friend from high school, @spurs.x0 to talk about our friendship. We take it all the way back to how we met to where we are now. In this diary entry, I had the pleasure to be joined by Malik, author of Course 28: A Memoir of Mental Health. It was refreshing to connect with another brother like myself, who used his struggles to do something positive. This episode is part of the Black Mental Health and Wellness series, focused on having conversations about mental health and the black community, to end the stigma that plagues our community. We take a step further and also discuss social justice and pop culture. two It was very refreshing to have another conversation with another black man on here to talk about these topics and engage in a healthy conversation. The Finale (Maybe) episode of this series, I quit teaching. I have been sitting on this episode for some time now and I believe now is the time to release it. I have a special guest in this episode who was a teacher with me in the same building. I hope this episode brings some encouragement to the teachers who are still on the battle field. Please take care of yourself first. I can speak for myself, I did not do it the best I could have. Yet the experience has led me to understand my mental health much deeper than I ever have. I am grateful for the experience and I will always have love for each and every student I served. I know I made a positive impact and completed the assignment to the best of my abilities. A conversation with a police officer was recorded in May of 2020. At the height of civil unrest, I sat down to have a candid conversation with a black male police officer. Speaking about racial injustice and police brutality is difficult for me personally yet I am thankful to my guest for making this a easier than I expected. **Here is Part 2! Be sure you check out Part 1 of this episode for the full understanding.* In this weeks diary entry, it is coming in two parts. A teacher friend in Florida went though this experience of having a student bring a gun in the building. By the grace of God, no one was hurt and it ended peacefully. With the current climate, I sat on this episode for a couple months. I believe now is the time to release this and my hope is that it sparks healthy dialogue amongst parents, teachers and communities across this country. Followed by action to make our education conducive to the current times we are living in and the future. There is no one size fits all "FIX," to prevent situations similar to this. However, we CAN implement policies, procedures and redirect our efforts in a different direction. What we are currently doing is not working. Throw the whole system away. My heart aches for the young boy who did this because he is battling an internal battle; traumatized & lost. This resulted in him believe his decision was ok... So much to unpack from this episode, I had to split it up into a two parts. The second half of this episode will release in two days on 8/27. As usual, I hope you enjoy and learn something from this. Wednesday, July 22nd, around 11 o'clock pm, I sat down to record a diary entry about racism and reflect on a recent interview I saw on The Breakfast Club. It prompted me to do some light research and find this article from the New York Times . There no one size fits all answer. One conversation is not enough to unpack racism and white supremacy. Racism and white supremacy run deep into the laws and institutions of our society. This was a day where racism was heavy on my mind and I had to unpack some of what is going on for the sake of my own mental health. I plan to continue to speak about racism and white supremacy on my podcast so be sure you subscribe for future episodes. Author of Deserving Mercy, Ludrick Rell C. Cooper, joins me in the final episode of the Podcasting and Collaborating Series. A story I can relate to; one that is important to understand, especially during these trying times. This is the final episode of the podcasting and collaborating series. This particular episode is not necessarily about podcasting, but more focused on the book, Deserving Mercy.
