Growing up Joe was taught to repress his feelings. He wasn’t close to many people and in early adulthood he lost one of the only people that he loved to the disease of alcoholism. Joe’s alcoholism went hand in hand with a debilitating loneliness. The more lonely he was, the more he drank and the more he drank, the more lonely he became. Finally driven to the brink by despair, he bought some bank paper for journaling, a lot of alcohol and holed up in a seaside hotel for the bender to end all benders. Like the show?
