Author Barb Braendlein joins Lisa Pezik to discuss her experiences as a mom of four children with mitochondrial disease. She details her complicated life as a parent that led her to write the non-fiction book, Olive, with her true-to-life experiences being mirrored through the eyes of the non-verbal, medically fragile protagonist. Barb also shares how she and her husband dealt with grief amid the struggles of taking care of their children, and why she thinks homeschooling must be about the community you belong in and not just sticking to a rigid or standard structure.
