WNET UP Next

Create TV, now in existence for more than 15 years, is a joint venture of WNET, Boston’s WGBH and American Public Television (APT). It serves its audience an entire channel devoted to public media’s most popular lifestyle and how-to shows in the genres of food, home and garden, travel, arts and crafts, and fitness.

Naima Smith, Create TV Program Manager and a founding member of its team, shares with WNET Up Next host Tom Stewart the story of the channel, its history, its mission, its audience, and its development and evolution over the years.

Now in 239 markets with an audience of more than 40 million, Create TV features a wide array of programming with iconic public media hosts from Bob Ross and Rick Steves to Martha Stewart and Lidia Bastianich. These stars of Create TV are joined by many other programs such as Cook’s Country and This Old House. The channel also features interstitial segments from Chef Mike Colameco called The Bite, about the world of food and restaurants.

In the New York area, Create TV is available on digital broadcast 21.2. On cable, the station is featured on Spectrum 1277, Optimum 133 and Verizon 471
