We enthusiastically welcomed back three of our previous guests (Andrea Warner, Dina Del Bucchia and Hannah McGregor) to very chaotically discuss queer camp classic But I'm a Cheerleader! We talked aesthetics, our experiences with the movie, what we'd want out of a reboot/remake, and.....hippos pooping? You'll also want to listen for Hannah's thorough rundown of things the movie classifies as gay, straight and neutral. Guest bios: Andrea Warner writes and talks. A lot. She’s the author of Buffy Sainte-Marie: The Authorized Biography (2018) and We Oughta Know: How Four Women Ruled the '90s and Changed Canadian Music (2015). She’s a writer, broadcaster, podcaster, and creative consultant who also co-hosts the weekly feminist pop culture podcast, Pop This! Andrea’s currently working on her next book which will be published in Fall 2023. Dina Del Bucchia is a writer, podcaster, literary event host, editor, creative writing instructor and otter and dress enthusiast living in Vancouver on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh people. She is the author of the short story collection, Don’t Tell Me What to Do, and four collections of poetry: Coping with Emotions and Otters, Blind Items, Rom Com, written with Daniel Zomparelli, and, It’s a Big Deal! She was a senior editor of Poetry Is Dead magazine, is the Artistic Director of the Real Vancouver Writers’ Series and hosts the podcast, Can’t Lit, with Jen Sookfong Lee. Her new chapbook, Douche Process, is available online at https://ryanfitzpatrick.ca/modelpress/. Hannah McGregor is a podcaster and an academic and an academic podcaster. She teaches publishing studies at Simon Fraser University, and she's the co-host of Witch, Please, a fortnightly podcast that brings critical theory to the Harry Potter world.
