Poland is set to hold their general elections sometime between October 15th and November 11th 2023. These are probably the most significant elections to be held within the EU before the European Parliament elections set for June 2024. For us outside of the Polen, the political culture can be hard to understand. Thus, we’re starting a special series of episodes designed to bring some light to the complexities of Polish politics.

We start out in the best way we know how — by diving into the world of political memes! Our hope is that viral images will offer us a insightful window into the key debates, social dynamics, and underlying tensions in Polish society.

We have a great guide for the start of this journey Sylwester Oracz from the Political Accountability Foundation in Warsaw. He’s an expert on both political memes and the electoral processes in Poland.
