This week on #TubtaNabadda, we discuss about key initiatives towards the eradication of polio, and ongoing immunization efforts in Somalia. These include the upcoming campaign known as ‘Big Catch Up,” launched by Somalia’s Ministry of Health and WHO Somalia. We talk with Dr. Mohamed Abdullahi Omar, WHO’s Expanded Immunization Programme Officer , about persistent outbreaks of polio, measles, diphtheria, and whooping cough, among other diseases, and the attainment of proper vaccination coverage in Somalia. He also discusses about the integration of polio vaccination with other health services in Somalia. We also interview Dr. Mohamed Derow, Head of Immunization Programme of Somalia’s Ministry of Health, about the upcoming effort known as the “Big Catch Up."
