In this episode, Qʷlm tl Stltla (Patrick Matt Jr., Qlispé) joins the discussion on the phenomenon of the older generation of tribal leadership retiring and how the next generation will fill the void with new ideas about identity and governance. Discussed are issues related the short longevity of the newly adopted governance structure of tribal nations. Since 1934 the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes have governed from an imposed model in the form of a formalized constitution. The mismatch of traditional values and norms are discussed and new ideas are postulated to take on emerging leadership roles.
