The Saltworks are the stories of real faith from real people in the real world. Saltworks by definition is a place where salt is refined as well as a job often viewed as drudgery. But it’s in the unseen places where people just like you are refined walking faithfully in their everyday lives, because God works in the saltworks. The Bible is full of these people, and they live right next door to you. They are the salt of the earth. These are their stories, and this is your story.

Send us a text Friends, this episode is nothing short of life-giving. I have been so excited to share it with you. On the podcast today we have Kirby Johnson who is a licensed counselor and all around wise woman. As she shares with us her story of growing up with a transactional view of faith, we talk about overcoming legalism, letting go of shame, how to love and still set boundaries, and waiting seasons. What I love about Kirby is that she makes you feel so seen, brings real truth into the chat, and just makes me laugh. As we dive into these topics, Kirby also shares compassion and advice for those who have loved ones with addiction, answers questions around what boundaries actually are, and sheds light on some common misconceptions we might hold around topics such as waiting. Send us a text Oh my goodness, this episode. Lydia Walker is on the podcast today, and her story is a powerful testament to the goodness of God. From His faithfulness to keep pursuing us even when we choose to go astray to His providence in His plans for us– Lydia’s story brings hope in it all. If you don’t know Lydia, she is an open book about things that she’s walked, because she truly believes in being a part of breaking chains in others’ lives. Lydia grew up as the third child in a wonderful family, and though no one put pressure on her, began to feel the pressure of expectations to live up to an elusive identity. Chasing after things of this world, Lydia doesn’t shy away from sharing that part of her life but also how she could see evidence of Him being with her even then. We talk about identities, her call to ministry, her passion for discipleship, relationships, wisdom, scripture– I just can’t wait for you to hear it! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you to our sponsors for this week’s episode: Northeast Imaging and Evans Oil with the Chevron Rewards App! Send us a text We’re doing something BRAND NEW today! While I usually wear the hat of ‘host’ here on the Saltworks, I also occasionally get the honor to speak at women’s events. Today, for the first time, I get to share with you a recording from the Abide in the Word Conference 2025. When we are in Christ, our salvation is firmly secured in Him. However, Jesus didn’t just come to bring eternal life but to also bring abundant life. What often keeps us from truly experiencing this is our lack of deep and personal surrender. It can become so normalized, even inside the Church sometimes, to live a segmented faith. As we ponder what this might look like in our own lives, today we’ll dive into the account found in Matthew 15 of the Canaanite woman. As we take this passage that at first glance seems strange and, frankly, kind of hard to understand, we’ll look into Jesus’s heart for this woman– and His heart for you. Because the truth is that with deep surrender comes a deep freedom when strivings cease and we begin to trust Him in every part of our lives. —------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thank you to our partners for this week’s episode Evans Oil with the Chevron Rewards App and Northeast Imaging! Misty shares about her childhood that led her into a pattern of deep people-pleasing and the road she’s walked of overcoming that with the Lord. Misty also shares with us about some earlier dynamics in their marriage and how EMDR therapy changed their relationship. Amidst it all, Misty battled an unforeseen diagnosis that has forced her to live within her limitations and depend on the Lord wholeheartedly. We also get to hear in today’s episode Misty’s passion for pouring into other women and directing retreats. This conversation is just packed with so much vulnerability, honesty, and truth that will make us stop and check our hearts. Send us a text It’s been a minute since we have had a topic Tuesday with your favorite co-host! Lindsay Stagg is back on the podcast today and we are diving into a topic that we tend to want to avoid: forgiveness. It’s a convicting topic as we all have things all the time we are working through forgiving. Whether it’s on a small scale with those we love most, a betrayal, or forgiving what feels unforgivable, this topic is for all of us. Sometimes we avoid this topic because actually forgiving someone can feel elusive and outside of our control. Honestly, a lot of it is. That’s why we need the Lord. Today, we talk about what it is, what it is not, the difference between forgiveness and reconciliation, and why it’s important even if the relationship isn’t reconcilable. I am praying that you listen and are encouraged. Lindsay brings so much truth and also compassion into this conversation that I really feel will be a balm to your heart. Britten is a wife to her high school sweetheart and a mom to two boys, so her story also highlights walking through postpartum seasons and even postpartum depression. Send us a text I loved my conversation with Ashley Minor, and I finally get to share it with you! Ashley and I met last January at the Abide Conference and kept contact through social media. This January– one year later– I get to share her story with you, and it is sobeautiful. Ashley grew up with lots of change from a young age, and with so many variables constantly shifting, basketball became the one constant. Going into college, Ashley felt like basketball was her ticket– until things fell through. Now a speaker, podcaster, and writer, Ashley shares the beautiful picture of learning to trust God and relinquish her plans to Him in every area, the life change that came through mentorship, her work with FCA, and how to wait well on the Lord. You’re going to absolutely love her and her wisdom, so press play and take notes! Send us a text Listen, ya’ll are not ready! We are starting 2025 off with a bang. Jordy Mckaskle is on the show today, and we are diving deep into the art of surrender. As Jordy unfolds parts of his story with us, diving into failed dreams and hardships he’s walked, he teaches throughout how to be brutally honest with God– and consequently, how to allow God to be brutally honest with us. However, it it all, Jordy highlights the immense compassion of the Lord even in those moments we fall apart. In it all, I feel that Jordy paints the picture of how to remain in the Lord– even when life doesn’t look the way we thought. We also talk about Jordy’s vision for a new and upcoming 20s and 30s ministry called The Bridge. If you are in your 20s or 30s (yes, that includes late 30s), if you’re out of college, and whether you’re married or single, children or no, The Bridge is for you. Listen to hear more about it, and I cannot wait for you to hear Jordy’s story. —------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thank you to Northeast Imagine and Daily Press for partnering with us for today’s episode! Send us a text Join me today for a short and sweet episode as we dive in together to the Christmas story. As we look into the lives of Zechariah, Elizabeth, Joseph, Mary and the Shepherds– they each had different roles to fill. Different contributions and therefore different sacrifices. Each of them are remembered at this time of year for the things that they did– but what about the things they didn’t? Paired with each of their stories of obedience were many things they gave up. Many hardships they faced and were willing to face. As each laid down their plans, dreams, comfort, and what others thought of them, they prepared room for their coming Messiah. Though they knew not all that it would mean, they each gave what they had to the Lord as they understood. And while we won’t have their stories, we too can and must prepare Him room in this season, but also in every facet of our lives. We may not know what He will do with it, but He does. So press play while you drive, wrap your presents, and finish up your cooking– and Merry Christmas! —-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you to our partners Northeast Imaging, OfficeLinx, and Evans Oil with the Chevron Rewards App! Send us a text We have a great show for you today packed with life-changing truths. You know him from the Knowing Faith podcast– Kyle Worley is on the podcast today and he brings such good news to us about our union with Christ as we discuss his book Home with God which releases February 11th! Kyle paints for us this beautiful picture of how we as believers have belonging in Christ that cannot be taken as he breaks down this doctrine in a way we can grasp. He connects what may seem like merely a mystical concept to a true reality we can walk in everyday, giving us a new perspective of our identity in Christ. Kyle draws such a vivid distinction that while we are firmly rooted in our union with Christ, as we live in the here and now, we can experience disrupted communion with God. We talk about some ways this may happen and the whys. Trust me, you’re going to love it and leave encouraged! I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did, and make sure you preorder Kyle’s book Home with God:Our Union with Christ . Send us a text If you know SueAnn Graeber, then you know the deeply joyful person she is. Once my second grade Sunday school teacher, and now my daughter’s, I’ve known SueAnn for a long time. She always has a smile on her face and she is a steady presence in so many people’s lives. What you may not realize is the endurance, perseverance, and faith it has taken to keep that level of joy. In her story, you will hear the reason SueAnn’s joy is so unshakeable is because in so many earth-shattering circumstances, she chose faith in her God. Over and over again, SueAnn chose to put her trust and faith in the God who is still doing miracles today, and her story showcases that in a million different ways. What strikes me the most about SueAnn’s story is that not only is it miracle upon miracle despite the devastation and hardship she’s walked through, but the fact that she didn’t miss it. She hasn’t missed what the Lord’s done and redeemed and healed and restored in her life, because her eyes are set on the One who holds it all. I don’t know what you’re facing today, but if you need to be reminded today that He is able and He still does miracles, listen to SueAnn’s story. —-------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you so much to our partners for today’s episode, Northeast Imaging and Evans Oil with the Chevron App! Send us a text Happy Thanksgiving, Saltworks fam! We’ve got a fun episode for you this week to celebrate the holiday. Lindsay Stagg is back on the show but today as HOST and I got to play co-host. We are talking all things gratitude! What does it really mean– do we have the proper understanding of it? We talk all about the neuroscience of gratitude and how science is finding out what Scripture has said for thousands of years. Our conversation weaves through how we can be grateful in all circumstances despite the hard times, and we even go into a little history behind the first thanksgiving. Send us a text Andrew and I have already had some great conversations coming from things I learned in this very conversation. This week is both a continuation of my conversation with Jessika McKaskle from last week and a really powerful stand-alone message for a strong and intentional marriage. We all bring habits, biases, and oftentimes baggage into our marriage whether we realize it or not. One of the first steps of intentionality within marriage is becoming aware of what those are. Jessika shared with us last week her journey of first realizing her struggle for control and perfection and her journey of relinquishing self-sufficiency through the grace of Jesus Christ. Highly recommend listening if you haven’t! But that is just step one when it comes to marriage. What does it look like to walk that out with our spouse? How have our patterns and brokenness affected the person we love most? In our struggles, what have we unintentionally communicated to our spouse? And more pointedly, how can we grow together and strengthen our marriages? Jessika does a fantastic job of giving some practical yet powerful actionable steps that I promise will impact your marriage. —-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you so much to our partners for today’s episode!
