In today’s episode, some suggestions for dealing with change. Be patient with yourself, accept that change is a process, and don't give up when you hit roadblocks. Uncertainty is hard but surmountable. Seek support if you need it. Highlights: Here are a few key takeaways from today’s episode: Our brains are wired to resist change and uncertainty. When we try new things, it takes time to build new neural pathways and habits. This is why people often revert back to old behaviors even when the new ones were working. "Moving stupids" - when you make a big change like moving, your brain is still on autopilot wanting to drive the old route. This happens with any new habit until the new neural pathways are solidified. For example, losing a dramatic amount of weight changes how people respond to you socially. But if you've been overweight for a long time, your brain isn't used to those new responses yet. This disorientation can cause people to regain weight. We live in very uncertain times right now, politically and economically. The outcomes are unpredictable, which makes our amygdala warn us to be afraid. Learning to accept uncertainty and not expect certainty is key. When starting a business, expect that some ideas will work and some won't. It's a process of trial and error. Success doesn't happen overnight. Talk to someone supportive who can help you deal with uncertainty. Groups can also be very helpful for this. Don't try to handle it alone.
