Patrick Madrid tackles a question from Jay in Madison, Wisconsin. Jay has a bit of a dilemma: his relatives, despite being wonderful people and regular churchgoers, keep tossing out the "my body, my choice" line when it comes to abortion. So, how does he respond?

Here’s Patrick’s Take:

Thought-Stopping Slogan: Patrick points out that "my body, my choice" is really just a way to shut down the conversation. It's meant to stop you in your tracks and avoid any deeper thinking. It’s more of a slogan than an actual argument. So don't let them stop you from speaking the truth in love.

Unborn Child’s Right to Life: He makes it clear that if it were truly about someone’s own body, then it would be the person themselves who dies, not the unborn child. The fact is that the unborn child is a separate entity with his or her own right to life.

Biological Facts: Patrick doesn’t shy away from science. He points out that if the unborn child were just part of the mother’s body, we wouldn't be able to harvest organs from it. Clearly, there's a distinct body.

Inconvenience vs. Obligation: He acknowledges that pregnancy can be inconvenient, but there’s a profound obligation to care for the unborn child. Temporary inconvenience is nothing compared to the precious gift of life.

Consistency in Beliefs: Patrick then takes a clever turn. He asks if these same relatives were all about mask-wearing during COVID for the greater good. If so, how is it any different when it comes to protecting the unborn? It’s a compelling way to show the inconsistency in their logic.

Scientific Evidence: To wrap it up, Patrick stresses that life begins at conception – a fact supported by science. There’s even a fascinating phenomenon where a flash of light is observed at the moment of fertilization. Life is truly a miracle!

So, what do you think? Patrick’s advice is to stand firm, speak the truth with love, and trust that in time, these conversations might plant seeds that grow into a change of heart.

Keep the faith and keep the conversation going!
