Today at Marston Point the bathrooms remain locked, gates have been installed, and the once two-way street is now a one-way loop. But many remember busier days. Cruising culture in Balboa Park formed and dissolved relationships, took part in the AIDS crisis, and even experienced fatal hate crimes. Though online hookup platforms have taken main stage, Marston Point, aka, “Fruit Loop” and other regions of the park, such as "Queen’s Circle” still contain many stories. In collaboration with Lambda LGBTQ Archives, accounts from those who participated in, surveilled, or managed cruising culture in Balboa Park were recorded and edited into 10-15 minute narrative. These accounts composed a live listening event in parked cars at the “Fruit Loop”- a popular cruising spot. Now, these stories live on the ParkCast and in Lambda Archives. Interviews by Kate Clark with support from Lambda Archives Staff: Walter Meyer, Office Manager, Ken Selnick, Digital Archivist, Steve Wroblewski, Lambda Board Member and Oral History Interviewer, and Jen LaBarbera, Head Archivist Editing by Kate Clark. Initial editing on Nicole Murray Ramirez, Bill West, and Anonymous Charlie by Camille Laut Sound Production by Samuel Dunscombe
