October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, so it seemed appropriate to feature an entity that has served and empowered survivors of domestic violence to grow into healthy, productive people and families. Learn from my conversation with Beth Hassett, CEO and Executive Director of WEAVE, Inc. as she brings to the table her profound insights on the myriad of challenges and hurdles faced by survivors of domestic abuse. We explore the thought-provoking rationale behind WEAVE's name change to 'When Everyone Acts, Violence Ends,' and uncover the immense value of creating safe spaces for survivors to voice their experiences. Our discussion takes us through the labyrinth of services provided by the organization, shedding light on how they extend a lifeline to those dealing with sexual assault, domestic violence, sex trafficking and more. We touch on the heightened demand for legal services and the elongated stays in emergency housing, bringing the struggle of these survivors into sharp focus. Beth doesn't hold back as she delves deep into the harsh realities survivors face when trying to escape their tormentors, from financial constraints to the scarcity of affordable housing. As we continue our exchange, we take a detailed look at how Weave continues outreach and procures funding. We examine their proactive approach to combatting abuse, featuring impactful education programs in schools and within the healthcare system among others. Our discussion sheds light on issues that are far too prevalent yet often swept under the rug, hidden or ignored. It’s through the extraordinary efforts of organizations like WEAVE that there is hope for those who have been suffering from domestic violence and/or abuse. For more information about WEAVE, Inc. visit www.weaveinc.orgIf you should need to call, the support line is 916-920-2952If you know of or represent an organization that would like to be represented on the Non-Profit Podcast Network, you can reach out to me directly, Jeff Holden at jeff@hearmenowstudio.com.
