You better strap yourself in for one hell of a conversation, as we managed to get Ben Weinman (founder and guitarist of The Dillinger Escape Plan) as our guest for this week's episode of The MetalSucks Podcast! During our chat, we discuss his new course on SoundFly called “The Business of Uncompromising Art.” In that discussion, we learn about how The Dillinger Escape Plan took unconventional avenues towards success.

The rest of our conversation also focused on finding the point that one’s art is genuine, how happy accidents can help an artist find their identity, the ever-present debate of artist versus craftsmanship, if there is an actual blueprint for success as a musician, how having the desire to be polarizing is motivation enough, and why some of the most technically proficient musicians sometimes don’t reach success.

Petar and Sylvia discuss Ronnie Radke’s response after Spiritbox decided to not to tour with Falling In Reverse, Carmine Appice silencing Nikki Sixx’s “washed up” comments, and Russian Circles' decision not to sell merch in Paris due to venue merch cuts.

Song: The Dillinger Escape Plan “Farewell, Mona Lisa”

Song: The Dillinger Escape Plan “Disassociation”

Song: Giraffe Tongue Orchestra “No-One Is Innocent”
