Being caught out in a winter storm can be a very dangerous thing, so it is no wonder that so many writers want to capture the harsh fight for survival in their novels. However, sometimes it becomes very obvious which writer has actually experienced extreme cold, and which writer has only seen it in movies.
There is, in short, far more to a winter freeze than feeling cold on your skin, and that is the topic for today.
