Active threats are an increasingly harsh reality for school districts nationwide—and for parents and school district leaders tasked with protecting their students and staff, school safety is an increasingly complex challenge.
In this episode, Branigan Director of Crisis Communications and Reputation Management Jennifer Roche speaks with Ty Breitlow, an award-winning educator and district administrator for the Lomira School District in Lomira, Wisconsin. Breitlow understands firsthand the importance of school safety awareness and preparation, as his father Dale, an assistant principal at Wauwatosa West High School, died in a school shooting in 1993. Breitlow discusses how this experience continues to inform and shape his professional and personal advocacy mission today, and the importance of communication in helping to ensure a safe school environment.
