We have our first guest on the show. Priyankaa is a dear friend, she & her family own and operate The Daily Hindi Milap, a daily Hindi newspaper publication based out of Hyderabad. It is one of India's oldest Hindi News publication, in operation for over 50 years. Was awesome having her on, it was a great conversation, clearing out some misconceptions of the news & sharing her viewpoint on how the news, specially print media operates.
Side note about something we discussed on the show:
Journalists rely on source protection to gather and reveal information in the public interest from confidential sources. Such sources may require anonymity to protect them from physical, economic or professional reprisals in response to their revelations.
Though Section 15(2) of the Press Council of India Act does provide protection to the journalist from revealing his sources but it is only applicable to proceedings in front of the Press Council. No protection is available to the journalists before the Court.
