There is a new little church in Quincy, California that is located in a Bowling Alley and we affectionately call it "The Alley." We meet at 10:45 am and we are publishing these for our children 's minister and those who are vacationing. They are raw but they are real, so we hope anyone that stumbles across this the Holy Spirit will bless you.

Matt 5:27-30 - Purity Starts in the Heart Matt 5:27-30 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell. First, I want to say Jesus doesn’t restrict anything or anyone from the letter of the Law. So when Jesus says anyone He means “anyone” who looks at a person lustfully commits adultery in his heart and breaks the commandment of God. Jesus said that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. The Pharisees focused on the behavior, and believed they were keeping the Law. Lust is an unquenched thirst towards desires, mostly sexual. Our society is blatantly sensualistic. Jesus says to gouge out your right eye if it causes you to stumble. Jesus' death on the cross is the purifier of all sin. Purity isn't about rules; it's about protecting what's sacred. Jesus' teaching on purity isn't meant to shame us but to show us a better way. JESUS’ DEATH ON THE CROSS IS THE PURIFIER OF ALL SIN!! No matter what your past is, what choices you have made, you can be forgiven and healed from your past sin because we know who we are in Christ. Our identity is “one in whom Christ dwells”. And we live everyday in repentance so that we don’t repeat past sins. There is always the re-do with Jesus. Your sin, your shame, your adultery, your porn addiction, your facebook fantasies of other people’s lives. HE PAID THE PRICE FOR YOUR SIN! You are a new creation in Christ… the one in whom Christ dwells… so live like it. Purity isn’t about rules; it’s about protecting what’s sacred. Commit to living a life of purity, honoring God in your relationships and choices and above all your heart and your mind.…

We are studying the Sermon on the Mount. The Beatitudes solidify our identity and paint a vision of those who are in the Kingdom of God. Now we are being instructed on how the Kingdom of Heaven is different from the Kingdom of Religion. Last week, we defined some important words to set the stage for the rest of our series on the Sermon on the Mount. One of those words was Righteousness.(podcast) It’s to be made right with God. Free from guilt or sin. Our sin has been paid for. Jesus had just said, Matthew 5: (20) unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. When examining scripture it’s important to remain on the line with what it says. It’s also vitally important to take the whole of scripture, the context of the verse, and any correlative passages that address similar and like situations. That being said, Jesus is about to point out here is the line of this scripture passage and To go above the line and add to it is in danger of legalism. To go below the line and disregard it is in danger of liberalism. The teachers of the law are going below the line. Quick review Righteousness: this is what God has done for us. This is not a work we can do, because we can’t be righteous enough on our own effort. It’s by Jesus' righteousness that we can stand before God / enter his Kingdom. His righteousness is given to us who believe. Therefore it’s not by anything we do, it’s by who we receive as Lord, King of our life…. Jesus our Savior. In turn, we obey His commands out of love, gratitude, and personal relationship.…

Jesus, the fulfillment of the law Advent, NY tools - 2025 = seeking him and knowing him in a deeper way Which we are always all about and invite each of you into this! Trust & Obey Sermon on the Mount revisited - where we are now in the new year. And we read that we are salt and light. We are like a preservative for this decaying world. And we make it taste better. Review Advent The OT points to Jesus that we needed a Savior & that HE is “coming” - Advent. The coming restoration of humanity began the moment Adam and Eve sinned. And God kicked them out of the garden aka His presence…they could not be in his presence because they were no longer holy and blameless. HOWEVER, He is a God of Grace so He declared a covenant with Adam, that a Savior would crush the head of the serpent, the devil who deceived them into sin.…

What is love How could we preach this sermon without using John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Advent culminates, we light the Christ candle on Tuesday and what He did for us we celebrate today with the ultimate expression of love: God sending His Son, Jesus, to rescue and redeem humanity from an eternity apart from Him. Light candles Hope - A wholehearted, evidence-based conviction that God is making the future better than the past or present. Peace - a state of wholeness, calm, and renewal between us and God, and others. The third Sunday in Advent shifts from a tone of expectation of Christ’s coming to one of rejoicing at the arrival of God’s kingdom with the coming of Jesus' birth Joy- a resilient cheerfulness anchored in the goodness of God. This last Sunday - It is also called the Angel's Candle and is a white candle representing purity, peace, and justice brought to the world by Christ. Love - following Jesus’ example by treating everyone as valuable and worthy of sacrificial care. What do you love?…

Week 3 of Advent: Joy God Has Come to Earth Luke 2:8-14, Matthew 2: 1-18 Advent means “coming” from the latin word adventus and that is what we are celebrating. First, that Jesus came as the Messiah, the Christ, to die for our sins, And He is coming again in all His fullness, power and glory.

Matthew 1:18-25 This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus. Emmanuel - God with us - Fully God / Us = fully Human= God with us = incarnation. The whole point of Christmas~!~ GOD… CAME…TO US as one of US so we could know GOD and be saved. Named Jesus (yay sus) = "Jehovah is salvation" because Only God could save us from our sin. Only as a human could He live the life I should have lived and die the death I should have died. He is God and we must believe that fully so we can live the full life He has designed for us to live. There is no halfway living if you truly believe he is God. He came to bring us PEACE and today we are going to learn a lot about that word, b/c w/o Emmanuel = no peace…

Take a moment and close your eyes. I want you to think about Christmas. What comes to mind? What images of Christmas do you see? How many of you had images of family gathered around a Christmas tree? How many thought of presents, maybe the best gift you ever received? Maybe you have sad thoughts about Christmas? Because of good and or bad memories of Christmases past. Or being disappointed where life is for you right now. How many of you thought of Jesus? What happens when Christmas is a time of worship? What happens to our expectations? How could Christmas be disappointing when we keep Christmas about Christ? I know as a 20-45 year old Christmas was super hard because I was single. We have been conditioned that when we think of Christmas, it is more about family getting together, decorating, present buying, romantic Christmas songs, and Santa Claus than it is about Jesus. Friends and family will ask little children, “What did you get from Santa this year”? NONE OF THIS IS BAD!!!! But is it a good thing that is now ultimate? Now we are not condemning anyone in saying this, in fact we need to get back to the basics of Christmas as much as anyone.…

Thanksgiving! And what we mean is Give Thanks! Phil 4: 6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving (gratitude), present your requests to God. (Promise) And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Begin here: I’m naturally someone who is a glass half empty kind of guy. I call myself a realist, others may say I’m a pessimist which sounds negative and I don’t want to be negative or at least I don’t want to give off that impression of myself. I can go down a doomsday hole in a hurry if I allow myself the opportunity to do it. I see all that’s bad in the world before I ever think about something good. So what am I to do. Give Thanks! 3 aspects of, Thanksgiving What does it mean to Give Thanks? What is it like when we don’t Give Thanks? What happens to us when we Give Thanks? What does it mean to Give Thanks? “Give thanks” occurs 36 times in the Bible. 7 of them in the NT. According to the NIV…

We Are Like Salt And Light M atthew 5:13-16 (13) “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. (14) “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. The world has taken this profound teaching and created the greatest compliment of someone who is of solid worth and usefulness … “People like that are the salt of earth.” Maybe you’ve heard this? In the Roman world, salt was believed to be the purest of all things because it came from the purest of all things…the sun and the sea. Useful of all things because it preserves things like meat. It is prized because its seasoning lends flavor to almost all foods. It was a huge benefit to keep an oven hot. Salt wasn’t just a condiment and seasoning, it was a big part of everyday life.…

Quick Review The Bible’s mega theme: the Kingdom of God / or Kingdom Heaven has come! The Kingdom of God is “God reigning”. To live in the Kingdom means aligning our lives with God’s will, which transforms our character to reflect Christ Now, there exists two kingdoms. The Kingdom of Jesus and the Kingdom of Satan or the kingdom of this world…it is most recognized as the Kingdom of you. And as Kingdom dwellers we live beatific lives. That is why they are BE-atitudes - not - DO-atitudes - not a set of character traits to aspire to, yet that is not a bad idea, but mostly a description of those who live in the Kingdom of God. The Beatitudes tell us who we are, and our identity as God sees us living in His Kingdom. It is for those who believe and are followers of Jesus who experience the joy of living in His Kingdom. And yet as we will see this morning the Kingdom we live under is not without its opposition. The Beatitudes - remember they build on each other Matthew 5:1-12 Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, (2) and he began to teach them. He said: (3) “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (4) Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. (5) Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. (6) Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (7) Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. (8) Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. (9) Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. (10) Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (11) “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. (12) Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. And today we get into, blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness”, and as we can see…we start and end with the same blessing…Theirs is the kingdom of heaven.…

The Beatitudes tell us who we are, our identity as God sees us living in His Kingdom. It is for those who believe and are followers of Jesus. The remainder of the sermon is instruction as to how we should live. Today we are starting with the meek, but let’s read it in context. The Beatitudes Matthew 5:1-12 Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, (2) and he began to teach them.
