Klokken 15:50, 2 ½ time senere tjekkede Manjit Singh, som havde købt billetter under navnet M. Singh, sig ind i en travl kø med 30 personer til flyvningen med Canadian Pacific Air Lines Flight 60 fra Vancouver til Toronto. Han bad medarbejderen Jeannie Adams om at tjekke sin mørkebrune, hårde Samsonite-kuffert ind, og få den overført til Flight 182 til Indien. Hun afviste i første omgang hans anmodning om at tjekke bagagen ind på et andet fly, da hans sæder fra Toronto til Montreal og Montreal til Bombay var ubekræftede. Da han begyndte at gå, gav hun sig og indvilligede i at tage imod kufferten, men fortalte ham, at han skulle tjekke ind igen hos Air India i Toronto. Det skulle blive en beslutning, som Jeannie Adams bittert kom til at fortryde. 15 timer senere styrtede Air India Flight 182 med M. Singhs brune kuffert indeholdende en kraftig bombe ned i havet og dræbte alle 307 passagerer og 22 besætningsmedlemmer ned i det, som skulle blive det værste terrorangreb på et fly før 11. september.
