Sveriges Radio correspondent Johan-Mathias Sommarström met a young doctor from a Damascus suburb. He worked at a field hospital in Moadamiya, but he was forced to flee to Turkey. He became restless and decided to return. He would once again work as a doctor in Syria. But he didnt make it far. He was arrested and no one has heard from him since. Fortress Europe is a series of reports about some 70 Syrian refugees' paths to and within Europe. Swedish Radio has worked in collaboration with the EBU to follow these refugees, whose stories you can find at sverigesradio.se/fortresseurope/en.
